Benediction & Selah
This recording was born from Jeff's involvement with developing and leading the Selah Service - a prayer and music gathering which takes its inspiration from the Taizé service originating in France. The service features choruses, instrumental passages, readings and often projected images combined with extended times of silent prayer and meditation. In the early stages of Selah, Irish musicians Brian Dunning and John Fitzpatrick regularly offered their talents as did Slovakian cellist, Jozef Lupták. On Benediction, the goal was to make a recording that captured the unique worship experience of Selah. Much of the production was performed live and later embellished. It features several favorite Taizé choruses, original compositions, arrangements based on very old Irish melodies and several improvised pieces. It aims to inspire the listener to a greater desire for the grace, hope and peace of Jesus Christ in their own faith and life.
