Brian Dunning
Playing a variety of musical forms including classical, contemporary Celtic, world and jazz, Brian Dunning is one of the world's most respected flutists. He is perhaps most recognized for his talent and skill in improvisation.

As a Windham Hill recording artist, with the band Nightnoise, he has several recordings of original compositions out in the world market. Also, his collaboration with keyboardist Jeff Johnson treats us to music that resonates with the power and mystery of the Celtic mythos along with fluid spontaneity.

Dunning is Dublin born. He studied at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and with James Galway. He was a recipient of the first scholarship ever awarded to a jazz musician by the Irish Arts Council to study at Boston's Berklee College of Music. He has played with Louis Stewart, the Stan Tracey Octet, Leroy Vinegar, Van Morrison, Jaco Pastorius, Georgie Fame, Bobby Rosengarden, The Chieftains, Donal Lunny, M'ire Breatneach and Andy Irvine.

In addition to his collaborative work, he has appeared as a solo artist on albums released by Windham Hill and Celtic Heartbeat. He has also performed in numerous festivals around the world including the prestigious Cork Jazz Festival and throughout Ireland and in Japan with his band, Puck Fair. Their latest offering is Forgotten Carnival.

He lives in Ireland with his wife and three sons after living in Portland, Oregon for twelve years.
